Uvac cruise - Special Nature Reserve "Uvac" is a natural good of exceptional importance, i.e. natural goodness of the category I. The central morphological unit of the reserve is the canyon valley of the river Uvac with its tributaries. The waters of Uvac were deeply tapering their trough into the limestone walls and formed a narrow cliff-canyon valley with tall, steep limestone cliffs. The special value of the canyon are meanders, whose capes have a relative height of up to 100m. Everyone who visits this special nature reserve rightly calls it Serbian Colorado.
"Uvac" was placed under protection in order to preserve the Griffon vulture– rear species of vulture eagle of the imposing size, with wing span and up to 3m, making it a powerful flyer whose flight was researched by scientists - aeronautics, and applied those research materials in the construction of aircrafts. Griffon vulture is a bird that doesn’t kill, doesn’t catch a preyor seek a victim. Its role in the food chain in the ecosystem is unique and irreplaceable - it is fed exclusively to dead animals, thereby preventing the spread of the disease and doing "natural recycling". That's why this species is appreciated all over the world.
The creative genius of nature's definitely showed great magic shaping Special Nature Reserve Uvac. It is situated between the mountains Zlatar and Javor, a karst terrain on which extends the credit for the creation of numerous caves and caverns. The most famous is certainly the ice cave to which can be reached only by boat. The reserve is a habitat for over 100 species of birds among which a special place belongs to the lord height, griffon vulture. Sam Canyon River Uvac, ranging winding meanders, breathless and words. Special Nature Reserve "Uvac" rich is characterized by karst areas in which numerous karst formations. Karst surfaces, coves, sinkholes, rock shelters, grow, caves and sinkholes. The special value of canyon valley are the ensnared meanders whose headlands have a relative height of up to 100m. Beauty unspeakable words, just call and advice - to stand, and look! Caves are numerous and vary in size from rock shelters to the largest known cave system in Serbia, Uvac cave system (6.185m).
Environment canyon is mostly rocky and overgrown with grass, in some places covered with pastures and forests. On the right bank there are several small villages scattered type near the meanders and Hill Prayer , one of the gazebo with the best view.
"Uvac" Special Nature Reserve is the only goosander nesting site in Serbia. It is also home for the largest population of this rare bird species in the Balkans.
Besides a rich ornitofauna, there are also some other rare and endangered mammal and other fauna species.
Clean water in watercourses and accumulations presents an ideal habitat for 11 fish species, and some parts of it are natural reproduction areas of trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, chub, sneep, barbel….
Of 219 registered flora taxa, 3 species are of international significance, 3 of them have the Red List status, collection, use and marketing of 25 taxa are subject to control and more than 50 species have therapeutic value.
